[2024 Artist Statement]

The world of consciousness polluted by reality is full of ridiculousness and  bizarreness, unpredictability and illusion. In that full space, I explore hidden  resting places like the shadow of consciousness. Countless images ranging from  loneliness to happiness are all imperfect, remembered in inexplicable scenes or  moments of life, in short moments that appear and disappear distinctly. I want my pieces to exist in things that cannot be described in clear words and  can only be expressed with images. Attempts to find balance within them often  turn to fairy tales, storytelling, fictional worlds, and unfiltered imagination. The  desires and fantasies of reality investigate intimately and introspectively between  darkness and humor. These opposing terms, such as suffering and rest, dream and waking, boredom  and pleasure, are in fact closely connected. My canvases, which play with the  boundaries of meaning given to words, are messy and chaotic tapestries of  consciousness and playful spaces that at the same time satirize the world obsessed  with delusion and fiction. This imagination is exposed as similar yet different  themes, such as the world escaped from a rigid society without adults & the  events in the imagination of a boy, dreamlike realities, and playgrounds & parties. Most of my works are created in an uncertain process between imagination and  reality, such as the contradictions that everyone has, fleeting memories or  associations, and images that strangely slip in between humor and tragedy. Inside  and outside the canvases that embroider the process, the unspecified beings, who  are crowded but hidden in the world that seems about to collapse, are still  struggling to protect the wick of an unpredictable explosion, waiting for an  eruption and liberation.
